Confident people are noticeable. We remember them well because they radiate this warmth and enthusiasm that draws others towards them. Confident people seek for opportunities to connect with others, to get to know them and be curious about them. Less confident people, on the other hand, tend to keep to the background and not mingle so much with people they don’t know.
I don’t know about you, but I enjoy being confident, to feel as if I belong, that I am have my place in this world. Let me share with you a few tips to help you be more confident in most situations and no matter who you are with:
Show Your Pearly Whites: Confident people smile, not only with their mouth but with their eyes as well. Smiling releases a positive energy from inside of you. And you know what? If you are nervous, smile even more. Now one will know.
Fill In Your Lungs: When anxiety and uncertainty knocks on your door, it’s time to take in a few deep breaths. It’s been shown to calm you down and help you feel better. You might think it too simple to make a difference, but it works. Just try it and see for yourself. Take in slow, deep inhalations and then exhalations and experience the effects on your mind and body.
Be Curious: When you focus on what is going on in other people’s lives, you don’t focus on “what will they think of me” question. Ask thoughtful questions and listen with interest. When you are confident, you show that you care about others. Take a moment to ask what’s going on in their lives, listen attentively to what they are sharing and learn something new about them.
Dial In To The Positive Station: What you think you create. Ever heard that before? I believe in this. Give yourself a positive pep talk by engaging in positive messages with yourself, acknowledge your strengths, talents and successes. And if that little gremlin does start to whisper some of those nasty thoughts back at you, recite to yourself a simple mantra that reminds you of all the great things you are.
